Tue Mar 04 17:07:17 UTC 2025: ## Chhattisgarh Court Dismisses Charges Against Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in ‘Fake Sex CD’ Case

**Raipur, Chhattisgarh – March 4, 2025** – A CBI court in Raipur today dismissed all charges against former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in a 2017 “fake sex CD” case. The case, filed by the then BJP government, accused Mr. Baghel and others, including journalist Vinod Verma, of damaging the reputation of BJP MLA Rajesh Munat.

The court’s decision came after a trial that resumed in January this year following a six-year delay, five of which occurred during the Congress party’s rule in the state. The CBI had initially sought to transfer the case to Delhi, citing potential bias due to Mr. Baghel’s position as Chief Minister and Mr. Verma’s role as his advisor. However, the court ultimately dismissed the charges, declaring that no case was made against Mr. Baghel.

Defense lawyer Manish Dutt argued that Mr. Baghel had been falsely implicated, stating that he neither created nor distributed the CD. Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla echoed this sentiment, highlighting the BJP’s role in initiating the CBI investigation. Mr. Baghel himself took to social media, posting “Satyamev Jayate” (truth alone triumphs). The ruling marks a significant victory for the former Chief Minister.
