Tue Mar 04 15:52:11 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Minister Distributes ₹1.87 Crore in Welfare Assistance in Dindigul

**Dindigul, Tamil Nadu – March 4, 2025** – Rural Development Minister I. Periyasamy today distributed over ₹1.87 crore in welfare assistance to 257 beneficiaries in Dindigul district. The distribution, held in the presence of Collector S. Saravanan and other officials, included relief for farmers affected by last year’s monsoon failure and assistance for differently-abled individuals and women’s self-help groups.

Minister Periyasamy cited climate change and poor monsoons as the cause of crop damage, affecting 234.64 hectares of paddy and maize. A relief fund of ₹30.36 lakh will be disbursed to 384 affected farmers through direct bank transfers. Further assistance included ₹19.10 lakh in compensation to 176 farmers, ₹54.97 lakh worth of specially designed vehicles to 54 differently-abled persons, and various other aids such as sewing machines, iron boxes, and warehouses to other beneficiaries. Additionally, 14 women’s self-help groups received bank loan assistance totaling ₹1.01 crore.

The Minister also inaugurated a newly constructed District Town and Country Planning office, built at a cost of ₹4.76 crore.
