**Bengaluru, February 28, 2025** – The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) will celebrate National Science Day on March 2nd with a public open house at its Koramangala campus. The event, running from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., is free and requires no registration.

Attendees can expect a wide range of activities, including demonstrations, talks, and exhibits showcasing astronomy and astrophysics. Highlights include a tethered balloon demonstration, tours of the optics lab, solar observation, and displays on various astronomical topics such as gravitational lensing, exoplanets, and gravitational waves. Models of the GSLV Mark III rocket and an “Outer Space Corridor” will also be featured.

The event will also include stalls by amateur astronomy groups, astronomy entrepreneurs, and booksellers. Visitors can participate in games, quizzes, and sketching activities. The IIA Archives will showcase important scientific artifacts from the institute’s 230-year history.

Several talks are scheduled throughout the day, including a presentation on astrophotography by Dorje Angchuk, a career talk on astronomy at IIA, and a Kannada-language talk on Indian astronomy by B.S. Shubha. Guided tours in Kannada will be available. Visitors are advised to bring water bottles. Limited parking is available at the Survey of India Quarters, Gate 2.
