**Mumbai, March 3, 2025** – Jay Shah, the newly appointed Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), received the prestigious Special Recognition Game Changer Award at the Sportstar Aces Awards 2025. The award recognizes his significant contributions to the growth and development of cricket in India and globally. Shah dedicated the award, presented by five-time World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand, to the women working hard in the sport.

Shah’s career in cricket administration began in 2009 with the Gujarat Cricket Association. He oversaw the construction of the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad and, in 2019, became the youngest-ever Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). His leadership has been instrumental in several key achievements, including a record-breaking media rights deal for the Indian Premier League (IPL), making it the second most valuable sporting league globally per match.

Crucially, Shah played a pivotal role in establishing the Women’s Premier League (WPL), a landmark achievement for women’s cricket. As part of the ICC Olympics Working Group, he spearheaded the successful effort to bring cricket back to the Olympic Games, starting with Los Angeles 2028. His tenure also saw the introduction of pay parity for Indian men’s and women’s cricketers and a substantial increase in prize money for domestic tournaments. Shah’s impactful reforms and visionary leadership have solidified his position as a leading figure in the world of cricket.
