**Vijayawada, March 2, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh Minister for Human Resource Development and Information Technology, Nara Lokesh, announced a major overhaul of the state’s education system. A workshop for legislators will be held on March 3rd to discuss the proposed “AP Model of Education” and explore alternatives to G.O. 117.
The minister emphasized a multi-pronged approach focusing on improved learning outcomes, skill development, and reduced dropout rates. Key initiatives include:
* **Establishment of a model school in every Assembly constituency.**
* **Implementation of a fee reimbursement scheme for postgraduate students.**
* **Tracking student progress from KG to PG level through the LEAP program.**
* **Accelerated development of a world-class Sports University and AI University in Amaravati.**
* **Strengthening vocational training in ITIs and Polytechnics to meet industry demands, with a focus on employment and entrepreneurship.**
* **Strengthening School Management Committees (SMCs) to enhance participation in decision-making.**
* **Regular review of learning outcomes in Social Welfare and BC Welfare institutions.**
* **Promotion of sports through school and university-level leagues.**
A subsequent meeting with university vice-chancellors, chaired by the Governor, will focus on improving higher education standards and boosting NIRF rankings. Minister Lokesh has directed officials to take effective steps to reduce dropout rates at all levels of education. The State Skill Development Corporation will play a crucial role in equipping youth with skills aligned to emerging industry clusters. The meeting was attended by key officials from various education departments and representatives from KPMG.
