**LAHUL-SPITI, HIMACHAL PRADESH:** A massive avalanche narrowly missed an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) camp in the Spiti Valley on Sunday, averting what could have been a Chamoli-like tragedy. The avalanche, triggered by heavy snowfall, stopped just 200 meters short of the camp near Gayu village. Local residents were forced to flee as a blizzard swept down from the high mountains, creating panic. Fortunately, there were no casualties. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast scattered rain and snowfall in the Western Himalayan region, including Jammu and Kashmir and nearby plains, on February 3rd and 4th due to a fresh western disturbance.
