Mon Mar 03 14:18:52 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu CM Urges Opposition Parties to Join Delimitation Meeting
**Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu –** Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin issued a plea to opposition parties on Monday, urging them to reconsider their decision to boycott an upcoming all-party meeting concerning the proposed delimitation of constituencies. The meeting, scheduled for March 5th, aims to present a united Tamil Nadu front against the delimitation, which Mr. Stalin argues would reduce the state’s representation in Parliament and weaken its voice.
Mr. Stalin emphasized the importance of setting aside political differences for the sake of Tamil Nadu’s interests and the rights of future generations. He highlighted concerns that the delimitation process would negatively impact the state’s political influence.
The Chief Minister also criticized the central government, suggesting that Tamil Nadu’s development, particularly its success attributed to its two-language policy (Tamil and English), is a source of concern for the Union. He reiterated his opposition to Hindi imposition, emphasizing that Tamil Nadu’s success is a testament to its bilingual approach.
Further, Mr. Stalin condemned the repeated attacks on Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy, accusing the Narendra Modi government of inaction. He cited statistics showing a significant number of arrests and seizures of boats since 2014 and demanded immediate intervention to protect the fishermen’s rights. His demands include recognizing Tamil Nadu fishermen as Indian fishermen, securing the release of arrested fishermen and seized boats, and negotiating a new agreement with Sri Lanka to allow fishing in Katchatheevu.
In a lighter moment at a separate event, Mr. Stalin addressed the issue of population growth, subtly encouraging couples to have children to maintain the state’s political representation in the Lok Sabha.
