**MONTVILLE, NJ** – Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg is currently filming scenes for his new movie, tentatively titled “The Dish,” in New Jersey. The film, a reportedly UFO-related project, features a star-studded cast including Emily Blunt, Wyatt Russell, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Josh O’Connor.
Filming took place Tuesday in Montville, where Blunt and Russell were spotted filming a smoky scene at a gas station. The pair were seen embracing and holding hands. The script, penned by longtime Spielberg collaborator David Koepp (“Jurassic Park,” “War of the Worlds”), marks yet another New Jersey production for the celebrated director, who has a personal connection to the state, having spent part of his childhood here.
“The Dish” is not limited to Montville; earlier this year, an open call for extras was issued for scenes to be filmed in Woodbine and Cape May County. Universal Pictures has slated the film for release on June 12, 2026 (a slight push from the original May 15 release date).
This marks Blunt’s second New Jersey filming experience, following her role in the Oscar-winning “Oppenheimer.” Spielberg himself has a history of New Jersey productions, including “West Side Story” and “War of the Worlds.” The director’s connection to the state is even explored in his recent film, “The Fabelmans,” which depicts his early exposure to cinema in a New Jersey theater.
