Sun Mar 02 22:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Rajasthan Farmers Suffer Heavy Crop Losses Due to Unseasonal Hailstorms

**Jaipur, India** – Rajasthan is experiencing erratic weather conditions, with a mix of rain, cold, and heat impacting the state. Recent days have seen particularly severe weather events, causing significant damage to farmers’ crops.

Heavy rain and hailstones lashed parts of the state, including Khetri-Sinchana in Jhunjhunu and Tijara in Alwar district. The hailstorms devastated standing crops of wheat, mustard, and other Rabi crops, leaving farmers distraught. In the Khetri-Kathumar area, the damage was particularly severe, with farmers reporting losses of 30-40% of their harvests.

Similar scenes unfolded in the Bhusawar sub-division of Bharatpur, where sudden downpours and hailstones damaged crops of wheat, mustard, potatoes, chickpeas, peas, tomatoes, chilies, coriander, and gourds.

Farmers expressed deep concern about the losses, highlighting the significant investment in fertilizers and seeds leading up to the harvest. They are now appealing to the government for a substantial compensation package to mitigate their losses.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rain and potential hailstorms in several states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. The unpredictable weather continues to pose a significant threat to agricultural production in the region.
