Mon Mar 03 08:12:45 UTC 2025: **Former MLA Faces Charges After Threatening CPI(M) Leaders**
Malappuram, Kerala – March 3, 2025 – P.V. Anvar, former MLA of Nilambur and current State convener of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), has been charged by police following a controversial speech. A case has been registered at the Edakkara police station under sections 192 and 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot and criminal intimidation, respectively.
The complaint stems from a February 25th speech where Mr. Anvar allegedly threatened to “rip off the heads” of CPI(M) leaders who sent cadres to attack UDF and TMC members in Nilambur. His remarks followed the UDF’s victory in the Chungathara panchayat elections, a victory in which Mr. Anvar played a significant role.
The CPI(M) condemned Mr. Anvar’s statement, characterizing it as inflammatory and an incitement to violence. Police confirmed they are currently investigating the matter.
