**Agartala, March 3, 2025** – The Tripura Police Crime Branch (CB) is investigating a “Cash for Marks” scam at Tripura Medical College (TMC), but has yet to make any arrests. The scandal involves a faculty member allegedly leading a racket that alters student exam marks in exchange for bribes.

The scam came to light after three first-year MBBS students reported being offered favorable grades for payment. Allegations also implicate some Tripura University officials. While the CB is questioning TMC officials and faculty, the investigation’s progress remains undisclosed.

Opposition parties, the Congress and CPI(M), claim the perpetrators are linked to the ruling BJP, a claim vehemently denied by the BJP, who insists that those found guilty will face consequences. Student protests have erupted, with opposition groups demanding action, while the ABVP has yet to comment.

Former Health Minister and Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman has voiced concerns about the investigation, suggesting a powerful lobby is obstructing justice and called for a judicial inquiry. The situation continues to unfold with ongoing investigations and political tensions.
