Mon Mar 03 02:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Two Dutch Films Vie for Oscars Glory at 97th Academy Awards
**Los Angeles, CA** – The 97th Academy Awards ceremony is set to take place tonight, with the prestigious awards being handed out across 23 categories. This year marks a significant moment for the Netherlands, with two Dutch films vying for Oscars.
*Ik ben geen robot*, a short film directed by Victoria Warmerdam and starring Ellen Parren, is nominated for Best Live Action Short Film. The film follows a woman who discovers she may be a robot. The film’s team, including producer Trent and actor Henry van Loon, are attending the ceremony.
In the Best Animated Short Film category, *Wander to Wonder*, directed by Nina Gantz and produced by Stienette Bosklopper, is also nominated. This film centers on three puppets who continue to live in the studio where they once found fame.
While several films are considered strong contenders, the crime musical *Emilia Pérez* has seen its odds shift following controversy surrounding lead actress Karla Sofia Gascón’s past social media posts. Netflix, the streaming service distributing the film, has adjusted its campaign accordingly.
Other frontrunners include *The Brutalist*, a drama about a Jewish architect settling in the US after the war; *Wicked*, a musical about an outcast green witch; and *Conclave*, a drama depicting the machinations of a papal election.
The Best Actor race is anticipated to be a close contest between Adrien Brody (*The Brutalist*) and Timothée Chalamet (*A Complete Unknown*), while Demi Moore (*The Substance*) is favored to win Best Actress. Zoe Saldana (*Emilia Pérez*) and Kieran Culkin (*A Real Pain*) are considered favorites for their supporting roles.
This year’s ceremony will be hosted for the first time by Conan O’Brien and will be broadcast in the Netherlands on Filmbox.
