Sun Mar 02 14:02:28 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh to Expand Chemical-Free Farming Initiative

**Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh – March 2, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh is set to expand its Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) program, aiming to achieve the goals of the Swarnandhra Vision initiative. The program, launched in 2015-16, promotes chemical-free farming methods focusing on soil health and environmental sustainability.

The APCNF utilizes nine core principles including year-round soil cover, diverse crop cultivation, minimal soil disturbance, and pest management using botanical extracts. The initiative aims to reduce the use of harmful chemicals, increase soil organic matter, and improve biodiversity.

According to Anakapalli District Agriculture Officer B. Mohan Rao, the state plans to identify 24 model villages to implement the program. Self-help group (SHG) members will receive training and guidance on natural farming techniques. While initial yields might be lower compared to conventional methods, officials expect long-term benefits for both the environment and farmers.

The APCNF program has gained international recognition, with delegations from countries like Mexico visiting Andhra Pradesh to study its successful implementation. Mr. Rao highlighted that the program’s global appeal underscores its potential to address climate change and promote sustainable agriculture.
