**Albuquerque, New Mexico –** Krishna Jayasankar, a 22-year-old Indian athlete studying in the USA, has set a new national record in the women’s indoor shot put. Jayasankar achieved a throw of 16.03 meters at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championship in Albuquerque on Saturday, surpassing the previous record of 15.54 meters set by Poornarao Rane in 2023. While finishing third overall behind Mya Lensar (19.02m) and Gabby Morns (17.09m), Jayasankar’s performance has earned her a spot in the NCAA Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach on March 14th and 15th.
