**Chandigarh, March 3, 2025** – In a renewed push against the drug menace, Punjab Police demolished illegal structures belonging to two known drug smugglers in Jalandhar’s Phillaur on Sunday. The structures, built on encroached panchayat land, were occupied by Jasvir Singh alias Sheera and Bholi, both with extensive histories of narcotics trafficking.
The demolition followed a request from the local block development and panchayat officer for police assistance in removing the illegal encroachments. Bholi, a notorious smuggler, has been involved in multiple drug cases, including the seizure of significant quantities of smack and poppy husk in previous years. Jasvir Singh also has a criminal record involving drug trafficking.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar Rural, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, stated that the demolition was carried out smoothly with sufficient police presence to prevent disruptions. He emphasized the police’s commitment to continuing crackdowns on encroachments linked to criminal activities and urged citizens to report such illegal actions.
This action comes after Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann issued a three-month deadline to make the state drug-free. The state government is intensifying its efforts against drug peddlers, including demolishing their properties where necessary.
