CHENNAI, March 3, 2025 – Korattur police have apprehended two individuals in connection with the theft of a car belonging to a private medical college professor. G. Kalanidhi (44) and his associate B. Johnson (32) were arrested on Sunday, March 2nd, while attempting to pawn the stolen vehicle.
The car was reported missing on February 25th by D. Tamilzh Selvi, who had hired Kalanidhi as a driver. According to police, Kalanidhi discovered a spare car key hidden on the dashboard and, after conducting a reconnaissance the previous day, used it to steal the vehicle. The pair replaced the license plate with a fake one and forged the registration certificate.
CCTV footage and the testimony of a previous driver hired by the professor led police to Kalanidhi and Johnson. They were apprehended in a blue car lacking a registration plate. Kalanidhi confessed to the crime during interrogation. The investigation is ongoing.
