**Mangaluru, March 2, 2025** – The Geological Survey of India (GSI)’s Marine and Coastal Survey Division in Mangaluru held a walkathon on Sunday to mark the organization’s 175th anniversary. The event, which drew 160 participants, began at the GSI office in Pandeshwar and was flagged off by Sidharth Goyal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Mangaluru.

Participants carried banners highlighting GSI’s contributions to geoscientific excellence over the past 175 years. The walkathon’s theme was “geoscience for a safe world,” according to a GSI press release. M.N. Shareef, Deputy Director General and Head of the GSI Mangaluru division, and former Mayor Premananda Shetty were among those in attendance.
