**Vijayawada, March 3, 2025** – Elections for five vacant seats in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council will be held on March 20th, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced. The vacancies stem from the retirement of four MLAs and one previously vacant seat.
The ECI has set March 10th as the last date for nominations, with scrutiny on March 11th and withdrawal of candidatures by March 13th. Vote counting will begin immediately after polling concludes at 4 p.m. on March 20th, with the entire election process expected to be completed by March 24th.
The A.P. Legislature Secretariat’s Deputy Secretary, R. Vanitha Rani, has been appointed as the returning officer, with two assistant returning officers also named. The election is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
