Sun Mar 02 15:19:14 UTC 2025: ## CPI(M) to Launch Statewide Protests in Andhra Pradesh
**Vijayawada, March 3, 2025** – The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] in Andhra Pradesh announced a series of protests against the state government, citing unfulfilled election promises and alleged mismanagement. The party will conduct “Praja Chaitanya Yatras” (public awareness marches) from March 8th to 17th, followed by “maha dharnas” (large-scale protests) from March 22nd to 28th in front of government offices.
CPI(M) state secretary V. Srinivasa Rao stated that these actions are in response to the government’s failure to address public concerns after nine months in power. He criticized the government’s handling of key election promises, specifically citing insufficient funding for projects like the Veligonda project and the Polavaram irrigation project. Rao also condemned the government’s alleged misleading information regarding the Public-Private-People Partnership policy and its failure to implement promised welfare schemes for women and youth, including the free bus scheme and cash assistance.
Further criticism was leveled at the increased electricity tariffs and the alleged preferential treatment of the Adani Group. Rao called on the public to oppose these policies, drawing a comparison to Sri Lanka’s cancellation of its agreement with Adani. The CPI(M) plans further actions in April and May if their demands are not met. The party’s state and district leadership will tour the state to assess public issues and conduct rallies leading up to the planned protests.
