Mon Mar 03 15:15:38 UTC 2025: ## CPI(M) to Strengthen Resistance Against “Fascist Regime” in Kerala

**KOLLAM, March 3, 2025** – The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] in Kerala is gearing up to bolster its resistance against what its State secretary, M.V. Govindan, described as a burgeoning “fascist regime” in the country. Govindan, speaking at a press meet on Monday, announced that the upcoming State conference will focus on strengthening Left unity and the Left Democratic Front (LDF).

The conference, which will see the participation of 530 individuals, including delegates, observers, and guests, will also examine the party’s progress over the past three years. Govindan highlighted a significant increase in party membership, from 527,678 in 2021 to 564,895 in 2024, emphasizing a focus on political education. He also noted a rise in the number of party branches and an increased representation of women within the party structure.

The CPI(M) aims to raise Kerala’s living standards to those of developed nations and plans to eradicate extreme poverty by November 1, 2025, positioning Kerala as a model for the rest of India. Govindan expressed concern over the perceived collaboration between the United Democratic Front (UDF), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), alleging that the Congress party was responsible for recent BJP and SDPI electoral successes. The party conference will formulate strategies to counter this alliance and further strengthen the LDF’s position in the state.
