**Mysuru, March 3, 2025** – Over 350 people gathered in Mysuru on Friday evening for a unique celestial event celebrating National Science Day. The “Venus and Jupiter Watch,” organized by the Cosmology Education and Research Training Centre (COSMOS) of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) in collaboration with the University of Mysore, offered the public a chance to view the planets through telescopes.

The event, held at Vijnana Bhavana, University of Mysore, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., featured retired principal S.N. Prasad of the Regional Institute of Engineering (RIE), Mysuru, as a resource person. Attendees were able to observe Venus’ crescent phase, Jupiter’s bands, and its Galilean moons. Members of the COSMOS Outreach Team, Amoghavarsha N. and Yashaswini K.S., engaged with the public, enhancing their understanding of astronomy. The program included introductory lectures on basic astronomy. The success of the event highlights the growing public interest in science and astronomy in the region.
