Sun Mar 02 13:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Clemson Gymnast Makes NCAA History with “Biles I”
**Berkeley, CA –** Clemson University’s Brie Clark etched her name into NCAA gymnastics history last night, becoming only the fifth woman to successfully compete the incredibly difficult “Biles I” tumbling pass. The skill, named after Olympic champion Simone Biles, involves a double layout with a half twist and a blind landing. Clark’s performance, executed during a meet against the University of California, Texas Women’s University, and the University of New Hampshire, secured a victory for the Clemson Tigers.
Clark, a redshirt junior, transferred to Clemson from Utah State University, where she was an All-American. She’s been a key contributor to Clemson’s rapidly growing program, which is only in its second year as an accredited Division I team. In 2024, she earned the first perfect 10 score (from one judge) in Clemson history.
The Biles I, first performed by Biles at the 2013 World Championships, is rarely seen even at the elite international level due to its extreme difficulty. Clark’s success marks a significant milestone for Clemson and for women’s collegiate gymnastics.
With the ACC Championships approaching on March 22nd, Clark and the No. 30 ranked Clemson Tigers are aiming to challenge top contenders California and Stanford for the conference title. Clark’s history-making performance adds significant momentum to their campaign.
