Mon Mar 03 00:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Amazon Unveils Revolutionary Alexa Plus with Generative AI
**Seattle, WA** – Amazon today announced Alexa Plus, a significant upgrade to its virtual assistant, powered by generative AI. This marks a major leap forward, enabling Alexa to generate responses dynamically instead of relying solely on pre-programmed scripts. The enhanced assistant can perform tasks like booking Ubers and show tickets, and even offer culinary advice in a conversational way.
However, the rollout will be phased. Early access, beginning next month, will be limited to four Echo Show devices (models unspecified) due to their screen capabilities which are said to enhance the user experience with the new dashboard and animations. While Amazon plans to expand Alexa Plus support to other Echo devices, Fire TVs, Fire tablets, and web browsers, it will not be available on Alexa Built-in devices, Amazon Astro, or certain older-generation Echo devices. The company did not specify which older models are excluded.
Alexa Plus will cost $19.99 per month, but will be free for Amazon Prime members. This integration with Prime services, many of which are crucial for accessing the full potential of Alexa Plus’s features, incentivizes Prime subscriptions.
The initial launch will be in the U.S., with a global rollout planned in phases over the coming months. Amazon’s Senior Vice President of Devices & Services, Panos Panay, showcased the new features during today’s announcement. The company emphasizes that users of unsupported devices can continue to use the original Alexa functionality.
