Sat Mar 01 16:50:19 UTC 2025: ## Legal Hurdles Delay Hebbal Multi-Modal Transport Hub Land Transfer

**Bengaluru, March 1, 2025** – The Karnataka government’s plan to transfer 45 acres of land in Hebbal to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) for a multi-modal transport hub faces legal obstacles, according to Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil.

While the government prioritizes the project, a court order and a three-year extension granted by the previous BJP government for a project on the land complicate the immediate transfer. The total land in question is 55 acres and 13 guntas, with BMRCL requesting 45 acres and 5 guntas. The issue was highlighted by MLA S. Suresh Kumar, who expressed concern about a private entity’s plan to build a five-star hotel on the same land.

Minister Patil emphasized the need to resolve existing legal challenges before proceeding, stating that bypassing judicial decisions would be inappropriate and could lead to further complications. The government is currently exploring solutions, including discussions with stakeholders and legal interventions, aiming to balance legal compliance with the swift execution of the public-interest project. The multi-modal hub is expected to greatly benefit the public, but the government is committed to avoiding undue delays while adhering to legal processes.
