Sat Mar 01 23:50:00 UTC 2025: **Texas Longhorns Receivers Shine at NFL Scouting Combine**
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine continued Saturday with impressive performances from several players. The day saw standout performances from Texas Longhorns wide receivers, running backs posting eye-popping numbers, and top offensive line prospects addressing concerns about their size and position fit.
Matthew Golden, a transfer from Houston to Texas, stole the show among receivers, clocking an official 4.29-second 40-yard dash – the eighth-fastest time since 2013. This performance overshadowed teammate Isaiah Bond, who failed to reach his predicted sub-4.30 time. Despite Bond’s disappointing result, the Longhorns showcased their speed, boasting four receivers with sub-4.40 40-yard dash times over the past two years – more than any other school.
On the running back side, Virginia Tech’s Bhayshul Tuten dominated, leading the group in the 40-yard dash (4.32 seconds), vertical jump, and nearly topping the broad jump. His 4.32-second 40-yard dash ties for the fourth-best time among running backs since 2013. Other notable performances included Jaydon Blue (Texas, 4.38), Brashard Smith (SMU, 4.39), and RJ Harvey (UCF, 4.40).
Top offensive line prospects also faced scrutiny. Ohio State’s Josh Simmons provided positive updates on his knee injury recovery, expecting to participate in a pro day in mid-April. LSU’s Will Campbell, despite concerns about his arm length, maintained his confidence, citing his game film as evidence of his capabilities. Missouri’s Armand Membou, another rising offensive line prospect, addressed his height concerns and aims for a sub-4.8 40-yard dash. Texas’ Kelvin Banks Jr. acknowledged that several teams, including the San Francisco 49ers, have inquired about his willingness to play guard.
The Combine continues Sunday with further testing and on-field events. Live coverage can be found on NFL Network and NFL+.
