Sun Mar 02 07:23:56 UTC 2025: ## Israel Halts Gaza Supplies Amid Ceasefire Uncertainty

**Tel Aviv, March 2, 2025** – Israel announced today it is halting all goods and supplies entering the Gaza Strip, escalating tensions following the expiration of the first phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire. The Prime Minister’s office, while not providing details, warned of further repercussions if Hamas fails to accept a U.S.-mediated proposal to extend the truce.

The initial ceasefire, which saw a significant increase in humanitarian aid, ended on Saturday. Negotiations for a second phase, involving the release of remaining hostages by Hamas in exchange for an Israeli withdrawal and a permanent ceasefire, have yet to commence.

Israel claims to support a U.S. proposal, reportedly from Trump administration envoy Steve Witkoff, to extend the ceasefire until April 20, encompassing both Ramadan and Passover. This proposal suggests a phased release of hostages, with half released on the first day and the remainder upon a final agreement.

However, Hamas has yet to respond to this proposal. The United States, Egypt, and Qatar – key mediators in the ongoing conflict – have also remained silent. The uncertainty surrounding the ceasefire and the sudden halt of supplies to Gaza raise concerns about a potential return to hostilities.
