**Hyderabad, February 28:** In a shocking incident, an 80-year-old woman was abandoned by her son on a roadside in Mansurabad, Hyderabad. The woman, Dharmi, from Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, was left near Little Champs School in Chitrasena Colony after being driven there by her son, Lakshmana Nayak, an auto-rickshaw driver.
Dharmi, who is unable to walk unaided, had been relying on her youngest son after the death of her two other sons. However, Lakshmana Nayak, apparently viewing his mother as a burden, abandoned her on Thursday evening.
Residents of Chitrasena Colony discovered Dharmi alone and distressed on the roadside around 10:30 PM. They provided her with food and shelter for the night. On Friday morning, they contacted the Vanasthalipuram police, who subsequently transferred Dharmi to the Aleti Old Age Home near Abdullapurmet.
The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who are calling for the son to be held accountable for his actions. The police are investigating the matter.
