**Vijayawada, March 2, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh government unveiled its Agriculture Budget 2025-26 on Friday, focusing on a cluster-based approach to promote horticulture crops. This initiative aims to leverage local climates, market demands, and export opportunities to boost the state’s economy and farmers’ incomes.
The plan, part of the Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision, targets 11 high-GVA horticultural crops, aiming for an annual growth rate exceeding 15%. The government will provide subsidies to farmers to improve crop yield and quality, ensuring better prices. National Horticulture Board funding will support the establishment of these clusters.
Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu announced the approval of a banana cluster in Anantapur district, with an RFP process underway to select implementing agencies. Further cluster proposals are in development for various crops and districts, including: mangoes (Chittoor, Annamayya, Tirupati), cashews (Srikakulam, ASR, Parvathipuram-Manyam), coconuts (Srikakulam, East Godavari, Konaseema), oil palm and cocoa (Eluru, East Godavari), and chilies (Prakasam, Guntur).
The government also plans to implement product tracking technology to benefit consumers. Minister Atchannaidu encouraged farmers to utilize existing schemes to further develop the horticulture sector. The cluster approach is expected to significantly increase farmers’ incomes and generate substantial revenue for the state.
