Sat Mar 01 15:41:54 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Traffic Gridlock Caused by Triple Event Overlap
**Bengaluru, March 1, 2025** – Bengaluru’s Central Business District (CBD) experienced significant traffic congestion on Saturday due to the simultaneous occurrence of three major events: the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes), the Vidhana Soudha Book Fair, and a Women’s Premier League (WPL) match.
Heavy traffic impacted several key roads, including Ambedkar Veedhi Road, Sheshadri Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Ali Askar Road, Kasturba Road, and Queen’s Road, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The evening rush hour was further exacerbated by people heading to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for the cricket match.
A senior traffic police official attributed the congestion to the large number of people taking advantage of the weekend to attend the events. Early arrival of cricket fans also contributed to the increased vehicle density.
While the heavy traffic was anticipated, the city’s public transportation system, including BMTC buses and the metro, saw increased ridership as commuters sought alternatives. This helped mitigate the congestion to some extent, according to police.
