**CHENNAI, February 28, 2025** – A Chennai Sessions Court today handed down 10-year rigorous imprisonment sentences to Vicky (31) and Jegathiswaran (23) for the attempted murder of V. Vaithi (23) in 2020. The two men, residents of Vyasarpadi, ambushed Mr. Vaithi near his Kalyanapuram home and stabbed him. Mr. Vaithi sustained critical injuries but survived. The court also imposed a fine of ₹5,000 on each convict. The prosecution successfully argued that the attack stemmed from pre-existing enmity between the accused and the victim. The duo were arrested by Vysarpadi police following a complaint filed by Mr. Vaithi’s father.
