**Hyderabad, February 27, 2025** – Nine construction workers were injured, two critically, when a portico collapsed at the University of Hyderabad’s new administration building Thursday night. The 30-foot-high structure gave way around 9 p.m. Seven workers sustained minor injuries and were quickly rescued, while two remained trapped in the debris for a time. All nine were transported to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
Police Inspector Mohd Habubullah Khan stated that the site supervisor was absent at the time of the collapse. While rescue efforts have concluded, investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident. Authorities are also investigating whether safety regulations were followed at the construction site.
