Tue Feb 25 16:11:18 UTC 2025: ## Maharashtra Leaders Vow to Intervene in Belagavi Language Dispute

**Belagavi, Karnataka – February 25, 2025** – A delegation from the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti Youth Wing has appealed to Maharashtra leaders for intervention in the escalating tensions between Kannada and Marathi-speaking communities in Belagavi. The delegation, led by Shubham Shelke, met with former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other prominent leaders, alleging harassment of Marathi speakers by the Karnataka government.

The delegation claims that a recent incident involving the alleged molestation of a minor has been exaggerated by Kannada groups, resulting in the arrest of five innocent Marathi speakers. They contend that this incident has been blown out of proportion, fueling larger communal tensions.

Mr. Thackeray assured the delegation that he would contact the Karnataka government to address their concerns. Other leaders, including Ambadas Danve and Sanjay Raut, also pledged future visits to Belagavi to further investigate the situation and offer support. The ongoing dispute highlights the long-standing tensions between the two states over the border region of Belagavi.
