**New Delhi, February 25, 2025** – The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) is demanding the revocation of a proctorial inquiry against its joint secretary, Mohd. Sajid, claiming it is politically motivated. The inquiry, initiated on February 21, alleges Sajid obstructed a warden and created a disturbance outside Lohit hostel. Sajid maintains he was only highlighting the closure of a hostel washroom.
The JNUSU alleges this inquiry is part of a larger pattern of intimidation against students from marginalized communities, echoing similar concerns raised by 17 suspended Jamia Millia Islamia students currently protesting. The union further accuses the warden of using threats and intimidation during the February 21 inspection. Sajid is scheduled to appear before the proctor on February 27.
