Tue Feb 25 09:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Nickelodeon Announces New “Avatar: The Last Airbender” Series: “Avatar: Seven Havens”

**Burbank, CA –** Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the beloved animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” Nickelodeon has greenlit a new 26-episode series titled “Avatar: Seven Havens.” Created by original “Last Airbender” creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko under their Avatar Studios banner, the 2D animated series will unfold across two seasons (“Books 1 & 2”).

“Seven Havens” is set in a post-cataclysmic world where a young Earthbender discovers she is the new Avatar, a role that marks her as a destroyer, not a savior. Hunted by both humans and spirits, she and her twin brother must uncover their origins to save the remaining strongholds of civilization.

“When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later,” said DiMartino and Konietzko. “This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”

Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, added, “For two decades, the richly crafted world of Avatar: The Last Airbender has captivated fans globally. We can’t wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga.”

“Seven Havens” marks the third animated “Avatar” series, following “The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra.” It joins a slate of upcoming “Avatar” content celebrating the franchise’s 20th anniversary, including an animated film (slated for January 2026) and various digital shorts, live experiences, and merchandise. The news comes amidst the recent release of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “Last Airbender,” a project DiMartino and Konietzko departed from due to creative differences.
