**NAGAPATTINAM, February 23, 2025** – The Nagapattinam district administration successfully launched “Namma Nagai Namma Isai” (Our Nagapattinam, Our Music) on Sunday evening, transforming the New Beach into a vibrant cultural hub. The event, spearheaded by District Collector P. Akash, featured a band competition and open mic performances, attracting large crowds.
Four bands competed in the pre-registered competition, judged on live musical talent without the use of background music or karaoke. Prizes totaling ₹22,500 were awarded to the top three bands. Additionally, over ten solo artists participated in the open mic segment, receiving certificates of participation. District Revenue Officer R. Baby presented the awards at the event’s conclusion. The initiative aims to establish the beach as a key cultural and tourist destination.
