Sat Feb 22 21:00:00 UTC 2025: ## LSU Tigers Shut Out Omaha Mavericks in 4-2 Victory

**BATON ROUGE, LA** – The No. 2 ranked LSU Tigers improved to 5-0 on the season with a 4-2 victory over the Omaha Mavericks Friday night at Alex Box Stadium. Sophomore left-hander Kade Anderson delivered a career-high 5.1 innings, earning his second win of the season with eight strikeouts. Coach Jay Johnson praised Anderson’s dominant performance, likening his early innings to that of former LSU star Paul Skenes.

The Tigers offense provided early support, scoring two runs in the second inning thanks to an RBI single by Jake Brown and a double-play groundout. Further runs in the fourth and fifth, courtesy of a Luis Hernandez double and a Steven Milam sacrifice fly, extended LSU’s lead to 4-0.

While Omaha’s Brayden Curtis took the loss, allowing three runs in 3.1 innings, the LSU bullpen proved equally impressive. Connor Benge, Mavrick Rizy, and Casan Evans combined to hold the Mavericks scoreless over the final 3.2 innings. Evans, in particular, earned his first career save with a dominant two-inning performance, striking out five of seven batters faced. Coach Johnson expressed his confidence in and pride in the bullpen’s performance.

The series concludes Saturday with a doubleheader, starting at noon CT and 5 p.m. CT, broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network and streamed on SEC Network+. Omaha falls to 1-4 on the season.
