**TIRUNELVELI, TAMIL NADU –** A special educational guidance program was launched in Tirunelveli on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, to support over 1,470 children who lost one or both parents to COVID-19. The initiative, organized by the District Child Protection Unit, provides these children with educational resources and special training courses to enhance their skills and prevent school dropouts.
Collector R. Sukumar inaugurated the program, emphasizing the Tamil Nadu government’s commitment to student welfare through schemes like “Pudhumai Penn” and “Naan Pudhalvan,” designed to promote higher education. He encouraged students to identify their talents and pursue relevant training.
The program, attended by 200 students from classes 10 and 12, also included presentations from officials highlighting various career paths. George Franklin, Assistant Director of the District Skill Training, spoke about vocational educational opportunities. The program aims to equip these vulnerable children with the tools they need to succeed.
