**Kozhikode, Kerala, February 22, 2025** – Following a recent increase in wild animal encounters in rural areas of Kozhikode district, a meeting will be held between Forest Department officials and local administrators to discuss preventative measures. This announcement was made Saturday by District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh in response to concerns raised by Nadapuram MLA E.K. Vijayan. Mr. Vijayan highlighted the fear among residents caused by frequent leopard sightings and the need to control the growing wild boar population.
The announcement came during a Development Committee meeting where Kozhikode secured second place in Kerala for overall welfare project implementation. The meeting also addressed concerns about staff shortages in government hospitals, issues with drinking water projects, and public complaints regarding service road construction along the national highway. MLAs Thottathil Raveendran and P.T.A. Rahim were among those present. The meeting concluded with instructions to ensure complete utilization of project funds by March 31st.
