**Hyderabad, February 22, 2025** – The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) is set to overhaul the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) syllabus to better equip graduates for the job market. A core committee meeting held on Friday finalized recommendations for a revised curriculum, focusing on industry relevance and skill development.
Key changes include a uniform credit framework of 160 credits over four years (20 credits per semester), the introduction of 20 additional credits for minor degree programs in emerging technologies like AI, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity, and mandatory industrial internships at the end of the second and third years. Fast learners completing the core curriculum early will be able to dedicate additional time to internships or projects. The new syllabus also allows for credit transfer from relevant certification courses.
Further initiatives proposed include at least four industrial field visits, the engagement of “Professors of Practice” specializing in cutting-edge technologies, and increased faculty and student exchange programs. The TGCHE aims to foster stronger industry partnerships through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and encourages faculty development programs, including at least one week of industrial training annually.
To ensure the syllabus effectively addresses industry needs, the committee plans further consultations with recruiters and stakeholders to gather additional feedback on employability and entrepreneurial skill requirements. The revised curriculum is expected to be implemented across all universities in Telangana.
