Sat Feb 22 04:32:29 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Congress Accuses BRS of Mismanagement in Irrigation Sector

**Hyderabad, February 22, 2025** – Telangana’s Irrigation Minister, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, launched a strong attack on the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, accusing it of massive mismanagement in the state’s irrigation projects. Reddy claimed that despite spending a staggering Rs 1.81 lakh crore, the BRS government left crucial projects incomplete, resulting in 103 TMC of unused water storage capacity in Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar districts.

Reddy highlighted the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) and the Srisailam Right Bank Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme (SRVR Dindi LIS) as prime examples of the BRS government’s alleged failures. PRLIS, with a potential storage capacity of 67.52 TMC, remains non-operational due to incomplete reservoirs including Anjanagiri, Veernam Palli, Venkatadri, Kurumurthyraya, Udandapur, and KP Laxmidevipally. Similarly, the SRVR Dindi LIS, with a potential storage of 25.64 TMC, suffers from numerous incomplete reservoirs like Pothireddy Palli, Singarajpally, Gottimukala, Irwin, Yerrapalli-Gokavaram, Dindi, Thintapally, Kistarampally, and Shivannagudem.

The AMRSLBC project, capable of adding 9.848 TMC to Telangana’s irrigation potential, was also criticized for neglect. Reddy asserted that the BRS government’s inefficiency and corruption were responsible for this situation, promising that the Congress government would rectify the problems and ensure the completion of these vital projects.
