**MINNEAPOLIS, MN** – Coby Levan Richardson, 42, has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, threats of violence, and fifth-degree assault following a fatal assault in Minneapolis. The incident occurred Saturday afternoon at a business on the 2500 block of Lyndale Avenue South.
Police responded to reports of an assault and found an unconscious man with multiple head injuries in the parking lot. The victim was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
According to the criminal complaint, Richardson, who had a prior altercation with the victim and his brother weeks earlier, confronted the pair at the business. He allegedly threatened to kill the victim before punching both men. The victim fell, striking his head on the pavement. Richardson then fled the scene.
The complaint details a previous encounter at a bar in late January where Richardson allegedly demanded a drink from the brothers. Upon their refusal, he reportedly claimed gang affiliation and made threatening gestures with witnesses corroborating the account. The brothers left the bar feeling threatened.
Homicide investigators tracked Richardson to the 2800 block of Knox Avenue South. A SWAT team executed a high-risk warrant and arrested him Wednesday evening. Richardson’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
