**KOCHI, February 22, 2025** – Kerala’s aerospace, defence, and aviation industries are projected to reach a staggering $30 billion by 2047, according to speakers at the Invest Kerala Global Summit. This ambitious growth is fueled by increasing collaboration between national defence research institutions and Kerala-based entities like Keltron and HMT, alongside hundreds of smaller industrial units.

G. Levin, CEO of Kerala Spacepark, highlighted the state’s promising future in these sectors, capitalizing on India’s own rapid expansion in the field. Pavuluri Subba Rao, a defence industry expert, suggested Kerala explore launching its own satellites to monitor initiatives like its extensive green cover, potentially generating revenue through carbon credit sales.

The Indian Navy’s involvement underscores the opportunity. Assistant Chief of Materials (IT) Sarath Aashirvad noted that ongoing warship programmes are creating opportunities for Kerala-based suppliers like Keltron. Duvvuri Seshagiri, Director of the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), emphasized India’s rise as a global defence leader, aiming for 70% self-reliance by 2027, a target that presents significant opportunities for Kerala’s participation in both industry and research.
