Sat Feb 22 01:11:00 UTC 2025: ## BBMP Settles ₹7 Crore Rent Dispute with M.G. Road Traders

**Bengaluru, February 22, 2025** – The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has resolved a long-standing rent dispute with traders operating in the Public Utility Building (PUB) on M.G. Road, recovering approximately ₹7 crore in outstanding arrears. The settlement, reached through mediation led by Special Commissioner (Revenue) Munish Moudgil, ends a protracted conflict stemming from declining footfall, maintenance issues, and escalating rent demands at the once-thriving commercial hub.

Of the PUB’s 88 shops, only around 50 remain operational, with many owners citing the BBMP’s alleged neglect as the reason for closure. The out-of-court settlement follows discussions between the BBMP and the PUB Traders Association, addressing both immediate financial concerns and paving the way for potential infrastructure improvements and better building maintenance. The agreement is expected to revitalize the aging complex.
