Sat Feb 22 11:15:20 UTC 2025: ## AAP Demands Explanation for Delayed ₹2,500 Women’s Aid Scheme
**New Delhi, February 22, 2025** – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Atishi is demanding answers from Delhi’s newly elected BJP government regarding the delayed implementation of a promised ₹2,500 monthly aid scheme for women. Atishi, who served as Chief Minister in the previous AAP government, wrote to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta requesting an urgent meeting on February 23rd with AAP MLAs to discuss the issue.
The BJP, which won a clear majority in the recent Delhi Assembly elections, had pledged the financial assistance during the campaign. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself promised the scheme’s passage in the BJP’s first cabinet meeting during a January 31st rally.
However, the scheme was not approved during the BJP government’s inaugural cabinet meeting on February 20th. Atishi criticized this omission, stating that Delhi’s women feel “betrayed” by the unfulfilled promise.
While BJP leaders, including CM Gupta, maintain the scheme will be implemented as promised, starting in March, the AAP is demanding immediate clarification on the delay. The AAP won 22 seats in the election, while the BJP secured 48 seats in the 70-seat Assembly.
