Fri Feb 21 03:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru’s Wedding Scene Shifts from Traditional Halls to Destination Venues

**Bengaluru, February 21, 2025** – Bengaluru’s wedding landscape is undergoing a dramatic transformation, shifting away from traditional convention halls towards more spacious and flexible destination venues. Factors driving this change include increasing traffic congestion, parking difficulties in the city, and the perceived inflexibility of older function halls.

Couples are increasingly seeking immersive experiences, opting for serene resorts in Nandi Hills, lavish locations along Kanakapura Road, and modern convention halls in Hebbal. This trend is fueled by a desire for personalized celebrations, whether grand or intimate, and a move away from the city’s chaos.

Interviews with wedding planners, venue owners, and newlyweds reveal that the shift is not solely about aesthetics and space. Economic factors play a significant role. While some couples find resorts offer a more relaxed and informal atmosphere, others cite the high cost of traditional city center venues. One couple reported a significant price difference between a convention hall in south Bengaluru (₹5 lakh per day) and a larger, aesthetically superior one in the north (₹2 lakh per day).

Makeup artist Humma Khannam noted that destination weddings are gaining popularity due to affordability and the ability to keep guest lists smaller, reducing overall costs and stress.

Wedding planner Neethi Shanthakumar highlights the surge in destination weddings pre- and post-pandemic. Bengaluru’s pleasant weather and easily accessible outskirts have made it a popular destination for both local and out-of-state couples. She also points out that many traditional city halls are inflexible and uncooperative with external wedding planners, leading clients to seek alternatives.

While owners of established convention halls acknowledge the trend towards destination weddings, they also note a recent uptick in demand for their services due to logistical factors. The difficulty for guests to commute to distant venues, especially with limited public transport, remains a challenge. Despite this, the shift towards more personalized and aesthetically pleasing destination weddings continues to reshape Bengaluru’s wedding industry.
