**Rome, Italy** – Rome’s public transportation fares will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future, according to a recent announcement. The regional government of Lazio has approved a measure proposed by councilor Ghera, keeping the price of the “Bit” (Integrated Time Ticket) at €1.50. This decision, lauded by regional councilor Marika Rotondi (FDI), prevents a fare increase that would disproportionately affect low-income residents who rely on public transit.
While the price of the Bit remains stable, new tariffs for 24, 48, and 72-hour tickets, as well as weekly passes, will take effect on July 1, 2025. These changes primarily impact tourists and infrequent users. A differentiated fare system for Metrebus Lazio is also planned, with increases lower than those for Metrebus Roma to ensure fairness for regional commuters. The current Metrebus Roma and Lazio fares, which have remained unchanged since 2012, will not be adjusted at this time.
