**VISAKHAPATNAM, February 21, 2025** – A national seminar on Maharshi Agastya, a significant figure in Tamil history and linguistics, was held in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. The event, organized jointly by the Tamil Kalai Mandram and the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti (Ministry of Education, Government of India), was part of the Kasi Tamil Sangamam.
Visakhapatnam North MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju attended the seminar, praising the Tamil Kalai Mandram for its community work and offering assistance to the Tamil community in Andhra Pradesh. The seminar highlighted the role of Agastya in developing the Tamil language, emphasizing its antiquity and grammatical structure. Speakers emphasized the claim that Tamil is the oldest surviving language due to its divine origins and rich meaning, a claim supported by references in the Kambha Ramayana and Mahakavi Bharathi’s songs.
