Fri Feb 21 12:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Former Hubei Party Chief Jiang Chaoliang Investigated for Corruption

**Beijing, February 21, 2025** – Jiang Chaoliang, the former Party Secretary of Hubei Province, has been placed under investigation for serious disciplinary violations and suspected crimes, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Supervisory Commission announced today. The 67-year-old Jiang, who held the Hubei post until five years and eight days ago, is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress and vice chairman of its Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Jiang’s investigation marks the sixth high-ranking official to be investigated this year, and the second provincial-level official after Qi Zalala. He is also considered the first “tiger” (high-ranking official) to fall in Hubei Province since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Remarkably, Jiang was present at the opening and closing ceremonies of both the Hubei Provincial People’s Congress and the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference just weeks ago, from January 15th to 20th.
