NEW DELHI, February 20 – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 Science exam concluded today at 1:30 PM. Approximately 44 lakh students from 8,000 schools across India and abroad are taking the Class 10 and 12 board exams this year. The single-shift exam, held from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, saw mixed reactions from students.
While some students described the paper as “easy” and well-aligned with the NCERT textbook, others found sections, particularly in physics and chemistry, more challenging. Several students mentioned that application-based and higher-order thinking questions made time management difficult. Others praised the clarity of the questions and the balanced structure of the paper, noting that those who had prepared thoroughly, including reviewing sample papers and exemplar exercises, were well-equipped to handle the exam.
Specific feedback included comments on the biology section being easier than physics and chemistry, and some difficulty with scientific terminology and certain chemical reactions that were considered to be beyond the scope of the NCERT textbook. However, the overall consensus among students and educators alike is that the paper was well-structured, fair, and effectively assessed a balance of conceptual understanding and application of scientific principles. The paper’s design prioritized a deeper understanding over rote memorization, incorporating a range of question types including objective, theoretical, case-based, and diagram-based questions. A detailed analysis of the paper is expected later today. Concurrently, Class 12 students sat for their Typography and Computer Application paper.
