**Udaipur, Rajasthan – February 20, 2025** – Ministers of Water Resources from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka have pledged to collaboratively address inter-state water disputes. Meeting in Udaipur on Wednesday, the ministers emphasized the need for cooperation to ensure the welfare of farmers in all three states.
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu stressed the importance of considering long-term inflows to the Krishna River, rather than focusing solely on current water levels. He highlighted the challenges in supplying water to the Krishna Delta and Nagarjuna Sagar Ayacut due to the filling of upstream projects. He further urged for coordinated management of the Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar reservoirs between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to prevent crop losses and water shortages until June.
Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister and Water Resources Minister, D.K. Shivakumar, proposed a visit to Andhra Pradesh to discuss silt removal from the Tungabhadra reservoir with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He suggested preliminary discussions at the official level before any meeting between the Chief Ministers.
The ministers agreed to resolve water-sharing issues, Tungabhadra storage concerns, and siltation problems through continued dialogue and collaborative decision-making. The meeting concluded with a commitment to finding solutions that benefit all three states.
